Ah just re-read the whole article and it is based on a small bored engine, I had a small bore when first reading it and didn't take this into account. So maybe more research is required on the application on a large bore engine. Im adding my OEM filter case to an MG Metro spec engine, so it would be interesting to know if Im going to reduce, increase or not affect performance, either way im still going to be better than standard paper element in the standard case.

I have drilled my case around the circumference of the base, hopefully i'll see some gains over standard, although as the intake on the air box is now larger than the mouth of the carb elbow it's a little redundant.

I belive that there is more infomation on these type of mods in the vizard bible and will do more reading on it.

i got to say, i've tried all different options on this car over the years (as i used to own it) cone, drilled air box, standard filter, standard box with trunk removed etc. and there was no "noticeable" difference in the way the car drives, all you got was more noise.

some may like this noise but it did my head in.

get him running right first (on all cylinders :dozing: ) and see what he can do, trust me, he's not short of power :dozing:

You cant just bolt on the K&N either. You have to have it set up with carb/carbs, as well you know Ben after following me up hills at 40 mph.

They do sound good, but made my car run very lean. So ia have gone back to the standard airbox, until I can get a full stage 1 and have that set up on the rollers.

So also K&N cone filter for sale very little use :goaway:

Some interesting reading there. Green & White (who will sort my filter, exhaust and fueling) sugested that on a 1275, the standard filter housingand 6 3/4 inch holes is still the best, and these guy's know their stuff.

It would be a good sound if i had some decent ammount of bulkhead sound deadening =]

That will be sorted shortly though, i have a section of soud proofing felt left over.
