Heres how not to do it. Reverse out of your drive, wait for a loud clunk, and hey presto - one lowered mini with diagonal wheels.

thanks. The annoying this is its only 3 feet away from our drive. Still undecided where to take it as im supposed to have AA parts & labour cover for a garage to do a repair, but apparently they are not honouring many peoples claims at the moment.

there's clearly TOO much camber there to help cornering, i'd dial a few degrees out if I were you!!!

A similar thing happened to be in the past, the bolt holding my bottom arm in snapped going round a roundabout, and the result was about the same!

Luckily, if it's just a ball joint, it should be a very cheap and easy fix. Doesn't look like the wheel's done any damage to the bodywork thank god!

Sounds about right, wait for the AA to recover you to a garage....typical!

AA man should be able to fix that there and then on your drive if hes got a balljoint kit on his van. But he wont, because thats too much work.

Ive been looking through the manuals etc and believe its the track rod end joint thats snapped. If thats the case then a tenner should do it on eBay were having to wait three hours so they can send out a flatbed truck, which is pointless as I want it back on the drive which its currently just outside off, so they would have to lift it onto the truck, and then lift it back off onto the drive. Stupid.

Im quietly gutted because I spent the last 10 days doing some odd jobs on her so she has been off the road. This was her first outing since we bought her.

Oh well, it never rains etc....

it's definately more than a track rod end that's snapped there! the track rod end only controls the steering of the wheel, judging by the way the bottom of your wheel has come outwards, it's almost certainly either the bottom ball joint or the pin holding the lower arm in that's snapped.

Either way, they're still only about a tenner to fix.

Just pick it up if it's practically on your drive.

Well the AA finally came out and got it back on the drive.

The engineer was quite good, but as they sent a flatbed recovery vehicle instead of a patrol van he had very limited tools and my collection wasnt much use either. Anywho he's got it 'sorta' back on enough to wheel it very slowly down the drive.

So I can now add to my list a new bottom ball joint and hub assembly as the threads are nackered apparently (well more they are missing)

Could anybody direct me to the right thing on eBay?

EDIT: Oh and 4 hours waiting for recovery, the hazards have drained the battery. Typical hehe.

The exact same happened to me. But when my lower ball joint split it decided to chew up my arch and a panel

You got lucky :P
