Hi ya,
Does anyone know if there is a mini-hearse in the UK?
My mini mad best mate who had in his time over 25 minis, would love a mini for his last journey.
Any help or ideas much appreciated.
Funny....about 2 hours before I found he had died, 3 minis drove passed me on the M40 last week. One was red, the other blue... the third white. Each with union jack roofs and each with two helmeted drivers in. I just managed to get a photo of them for him....

Funeral is this Friday so any quick replies very much appreciated.

Funny, was just talking to a mate about this the other day after noting that there are wedding limos but didnt know if there was any hearses.

Sorry to hear about the loss by the way and hope that you can find one for that special send off.

Better to keep bumping it,

There was a similar enquiry a while back. I don't think we found one, there'd be an obvious issue with the length - and undertaking is a more involved and sombre affair than running a novelty hire car business.

I think the best solution suggested last time was a Mini pulling a suitably decorated trailer, similar to a gun carriage.

It might help to give a rough location if you want people to offer their services.

The only custom funeral vehicles I know of in the UK are a set of bay-window VW Campers (one hearse, one limo, hearse suitably stretched), and a pair of Land Rover Defenders (one hearse - 130, one limo - 110). There are also the obvious motorbike hearses available.

I've often thought about this, and I think the best way to do it would be to have either a commercial (van/pick-up) or a Clubman Estate, and run with the back doors/tailgate propped open. If its part of a courtege then it will be completely legal to have the coffin protruding slightly from the back of the Mini, I've seen it done with a few other types of vehicles, obviously as long as the coffin itself is properly secured!!

If your friend requested to have his last journey in a Mini then obviously the funeral directors will need to be informed and a suitable vehicle will need to be found, but as I said above I reckon your best bet would be a Clubby Estate, you could even fabricate a small framework to lift the coffin slightly above the load deck to make it a more dignified last journey.

Hope that helps a bit, and good luck with the search.

To add to PT's comments a pickup would also be a good idea if the weather is good as it has the benfit of a drop down tail gate (for the extra length) and is obviously open to aid picking up the coffin

i can't help but think this is a bad idea unless you can get hold of a suitably stretched mini to carry the weight and the length of a coffin.

There was a hearse-styled clubby estate on here a few years back, member was Turbo Hearse. Haven't seen him around for a while, but saw his car at SMD last year?

Sorry to hear of your mate's passing, hope you manage to find something suitable for the send-off.

On Skins they put a coffin on a roof rack? Perhaps not so dignified. I wonder about the mini towing a carriage though.

i wonder if someone like clubman Katie could help you out

he drives a 6 wheel mini hussler (mini based kit car) i know it's person sized in the back because he sleeps in it

you can get pick up's and scamps with 6 wheels for the extra length

I know this is terrible, but I couldn't stop laughing at the above comment. :D
It sounds like something from Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em!?
What if the coffin fell out and ran off down the road...

Sorry to hear about your loss.. I really hope you find something.
I think a black clubby estate is your best bet too.

www.volkswagonfunerals.co.uk

you could have a stretch mini ( http://www.carandcla...ar/C32541?pt=pf ) for the family ?!?

ALSO - THESE HAVE A SOFT TOP STRETCHED CLASSIC LIMO. see below - http://www.aminiwedding.co.uk/ no offense, but if the seats go flat it may work ?!? If the weather is right !

so to hear about your loss. Its no good for now, but a possibility for the future if someone wants to build one......a mini trailer built to carry a coffin???
Could this work? Could have fixings and things like in the back of a hearse?

Hi ya, My mini mad (he had over 25) friend has just died suddenly, young at 42.
A mini took him to hi wedding and I'd love to be able to find a mini to take his coffin on his last journey. An extended pickup would do....does anyone know of one?
Cheers for your help.

Sorry for the loss, but I'm not sure you can get a mini-hearse? I've not seen one.

Also I'm not too sure an owner of a suitable mini (non hearse) would be willing to have there car used for something like this?

I'm hoping I'm wrong on both counts but good luck on your search :xmas:
