I seem to remember seeing a red 6-wheeled pickup on e-bay, think it was located in weston-super-mare.
Looked quite tidy but not anything special.
May have changed now though?
It had standard arches etc and steel wheels with hub caps.
Sorry it's not much help but there is one out there somewhere!

Edit: here it is!! http://www.carandcla....uk/car/C48511/
not sure if it's long enough for a coffin though,
and there aren't any contact details on it unfortunately.
Unless someone on here knows it's whereabouts?.....

The only custom funeral vehicles I know of in the UK are a set of bay-window VW Campers (one hearse, one limo, hearse suitably stretched), and a pair of Land Rover Defenders (one hearse - 130, one limo - 110). There are also the obvious motorbike hearses available.

I've often thought about this, and I think the best way to do it would be to have either a commercial (van/pick-up) or a Clubman Estate, and run with the back doors/tailgate propped open. If its part of a courtege then it will be completely legal to have the coffin protruding slightly from the back of the Mini, I've seen it done with a few other types of vehicles, obviously as long as the coffin itself is properly secured!!

If your friend requested to have his last journey in a Mini then obviously the funeral directors will need to be informed and a suitable vehicle will need to be found, but as I said above I reckon your best bet would be a Clubby Estate, you could even fabricate a small framework to lift the coffin slightly above the load deck to make it a more dignified last journey.

Hope that helps a bit, and good luck with the search.

Thanks....think you are right this is the way to go...

you could have a stretch mini ( http://www.carandcla...ar/C32541?pt=pf ) for the family ?!?

ALSO - THESE HAVE A SOFT TOP STRETCHED CLASSIC LIMO. see below - http://www.aminiwedding.co.uk/ no offense, but if the seats go flat it may work ?!? If the weather is right !

Brilliant idea...I have emailed them...many thanks

Can any one help me find this mini it is perfect!
We used to race up and down Brean sands in 1985 when we had just left school. He had a mini, I had a triumph Spitfire. Our other friend had a Honda civic. All beat up ol' cars but as we drove up the 9 mile beach in formation at 90mph, the world was our oyster. We are planning a knees up back at Brean sands just south of western Super mud this weekend. If the vehicle is close it would be amazing to be bale to hire it...cheers again for your post.

Hi everyone.
First of all thanks for so many thoughtful and helpful replies regarding my search for a mini hearse for this Friday.
Second, do you know who owns this mini???
I think this would work..and apparently it was sold locally to where were are in south Gloucestershire.

i do the odd job for a local funeral director, i thought about making a mini hearse but it seamed the peoblem was fitting 4 people and coffin. and the wieght it would be about to haul, one coach builder specilising in hearses reckon it would be about 2/2.5 ton!

we have used
morris 1000 pick up
steam engine pulling a trailer
horse drawn hearse

If i still had my clubby estate, i'd take the seats out and let you borrow it! Given me a cracking idea for a conversion, sadly too late to assist you at this time!

Good luck with it!
