I built the blue one for £4500 and the red one for about £5300 using either new or recon parts. You can buy then 2nd hand for about £4500 upwards. Many people put bike engines in and get 0-60 in about 3.5 seconds but most about 4.5 seconds which is pretty quick. The red one with it's std 2litre Sierra engine did 0-60 in just under 6 seconds. My mate sold his Superbly built Yamaha R1 engined road car for just under £10k but it was spot on! Best place to check them out is Locostbuilders

Please note that a 2nd hand old Caterham is going to be £6-£7K upwards with a nice car engined car being £16k or so.

oh cool, thanks for that. I drove a robin hood kit caar in the paddock at brands last month, obviously didnt get to any speed but it wa very smooth at low revs, cant remember what engine that was though.

I Dont think you can beat the minimalist look of the caterham though.

Robin Hoods are pants compared to just about every other 7 out there except for their top of the range car which is ok. I would still rather drive a compost heap than a Robin Hood! :)

Rosie the Mini comes home! YAY! :)

Home at last.

Surprising how little room she takes up.

Underneath looking good. A wire brush and some paint and she will look spanking!

Update:

Well i have not done much to my mini for many months. All i have done is clean up the underside and weld up some holes. I am between jobs at the moment so will have time to get out there and get cracking again. i'll post up some pix of progress.

Any words of encouragement welcome!! :D

I have been out in the garage this morning under sealing the car with that rubbery black under seal stuff. It's handy having a compressor!!

On the pics you can see where i have missed areas. When you look at the actual car you can't see these areas!! Weird!

Also the car is going back to it's original auto engine and box.

Here are a few pics:

I think if you intend keeping the car for any length of time it's a must!!

Bottom is now painted the original Bracken color and in Rustolium using a compressor and spray gun. I have never sprayed before and this was a good opportunity to have a go and it went quite well.

1st coat. Using flash on the camera. This is the proper color as seen by the naked eye.
