A little While ago i was reading a post by Mini_the_Minx where she was saying she wasnt very happy having to put standard Unleaded in Minx as she usually runs on either BP Ultimate or Shell Vpower

I started to get curious so messaged her and she gave me the Lowdown ;)
As im willing to try anything to spoil Bozzie and because i want him to pur like a kitten i thought id give it a go :mrcool:

Minxy suggested i empty the tank first and then refill with one of the fuels but at the time Sam had just filled him to the brim with standard unleaded and it would be rude not to use it

We only have one BP station around here and its more expensive to fill up with BP Ultimate and also a greater incoveniance to get to that station ;D

So weve Chosen to Try V Power as theres more Shell stations and around here its 3p Cheaper than BP ultimate too

Anyhooz today it was near empty so we went n filled him with Shell V Power
Wanting to give a fair test weve filled a can with it too so if we run out weve enough to get to a filling station to refill ;)

However when filling him up we discovered he wasnt empy afterall :)
As hes got a 31 litre tank and we struggled to get just over 20 litres in we can only asume theres 10 litres or so of standard 95Ron in the bottom of the tank

Im assuming itll just get used and when we next refil all that will remain is Shell V Power?
it just shows how innacurate a minis fuel gauge is

I cant say as yet if its any different as we need to give it a good run to make a comparison but he does appear to tick over quieter in comparison to how he used to but that could just be my imagination?

If he runs better on it we will use it from now on
I wouldnt like to fill our Daily Driver with it because it has a very large tank but as Boris only has an Ickle tank it only adds £2.40 per tank and if he runs better its worth it :P

I understand it may make him more Responsive and possibly more Economical only time will tell and a good long run too ;)

We are going to run him on nothing but Shell V power on Sunday all the way to L2B and back so that should be a good test ;)
Ill keep you posted on how it goes and if we notice any difference?

Jodie :P

Mini's have 5.5 gallon tanks and 7.5 gallon tanks.

31 litres is none of these. You probably have a 7.5 gallon tank is 34 litres. Anyway your more likely going to notice more if you get your car rolling roaded on v-power.

Yep, to make a real difference the timing needs to be set up for V-power ideally.

I use V power very often, it can make your engine run smoother and improves fuel economy. Works better with advanced timing as its 100 ron.

I can't see any wonder fuel making a difference at all on an 'A' series!!

A modern, high performance engine that uses it's management system to continually fine tune and optomise it's fuel usage, maybe. But an 'A' series? You'd probably not notice the difference if you tipped 5 litres of parafin in with it :P

okeys im only going on what it says in the handbook which states its a 31 litre tank :P
cant see me rolling roading him but if the fuel turns out to be better for him its woth the extra couple of quid per tank ;)

Id probably agree but as Boris is quite a late model with fuel injection i reckon its worth a go ;)

Saxo-Fiesta-Mini
never thought of that is it worth getting the timing done while its running on V Power so its set in harmony with the fuel ?

7.5 imperial gallon = 34.095 675 liter

Just made sure I wasn't wrong on an online volume calculator and it is 34 litres, even though the site spelt it wrong :P

Odd that the manual sais 31.

the injection minis had a differnt tank with intank pump so will probs be a lil bit smaller unless im being welsh and yeh if its an early carb mini u can advance the dizzy a bit, with the spi it should have a knock sensor to sense pinking and so advance the igntion as required

Oh and going to a rolling road is the point of doing the timing.

I find standard BP fuel lasts longer than any other standard fuels. haven't tried ultimate or V-power.

I've tried them all and you can spot the difference - but you need to advance the timing as stated.
I've THEN noticed Cliffy behaving very badly when I'm forced to use standard 95RON occasionally.
