Hello!

I posted this a while ago and didn't get much response, and I couldn't find the thread again either so I thought I'd just post again.

I want to convert my 998 carb to injection using the gear from a 1275 SPI. I would have the SPI's loom, inlet manifold, injector and ECU, as well as airbox.

Now: what would I need to do exactly?! Are there any other parts I would need, what will I need to change, what wiring would I need to do, etc.

Thanks a lot

Mark

/PM's Jackman. Anyone else got any input on this?

Cheers

EDIT: Jackman never did it.... anyone know? PResumably it would be the same work to put an SPI back to SPI after being carb converted - now what does that entail :(

Does no one have ANY ideas about this? Might have to call it off as I'm not experience enough to do it from scratch myself without SOME info to help me out :P

There are some othre parts you're likely to need. I can't remember exactly as it's been years since I played with an SPi. I'm primarily on MPi's now. You may also need the tank and fuel pump, fuel lines (i think injection or 1275's use a 5/16th fule line where the 998's use a 1/4"). There is also the rad + electric fan and possibly the carbon filter thingy? You might also the need the downpipe and CAT.

Have a word with Sprocket. He's the main SPi man.

may also need the tank and fuel pump,

Yep - or an alternative pump and a return line plumbed into the existing tank...

There is also the rad + electric fan

no reason why...

and possibly the carbon filter thingy

nope not needed either...

You might also the need the downpipe and CAT.

Cat wont be needed, and the downpipe will need a lambda sensor fitting...

I want to convert my 998 carb to injection using the gear from a 1275 SPI

Why not just fit a 1275 spi engine??

Fitting the necessary parts to the 998 shouldnt present too many problems... need to sort the necessary wiring out, but doubt if it would be a good match to a 998.

Don't want to fit a 1275 as I'm getting a new engine next year. Just want to play with the 998 and learn some stuff. Always fancied EFI. Thanks for the replies guys - doesn't sound too difficult actually, but I don't know if I can be bothered to source the rest of the parts so i might just leave it and wait until I get my new engine.

Thanks again

Mark
