Some progress at last, I think this needs moving to full restoration!

Engine and subframe out, all glass out, dash out, steering column out, fuel lines out etc etc.

Just really the rear subframe plus the passenger door (rounded bolts )

Then it can head off to the shot blasters!

I had the same thing with two of mine, one captive nut sheared off and just span in the sill) cut the nut head off with a dremel then pushed it into the sill, the other sheared off flush (later drilled out and the nut broke off too).

I ended up cutting a small hole in the inner sill inside the rear bin to allow me to slip a thin walled ring spanner inside to hold a nut as I put the subframe back on again. Such a pig trying to do it on your own, get a friend to help leaning in through the rear window. (Meant I could get the other bolt out with a magnet, plus gives me somewhere usefull to feed a long Waxoil tube into the sill too.)

good day today, got the rear subframe off.

Got the rounded bolt off by heating it with a blow torch then banging on a socket, and the snapped one off with a £3 stud remover kit from ebay!

Shell is pretty much ready for the blaster now, just need to find a trailer to get it there!

Got a HELL of a lot to do. Thinking it may be easier to get a better shell!

Got hold of a complete front 8.5" disc setup for the grand total of £33 and have ordered a rebuild kit for the calipers for about £20.

The shot blaster hasn't fixed his trailer yet so still haven't managed to get the shell there yet. Need to take a good look over the rear subframe to make sure it's worthy of being blasted and painted.

Lots to be getting on with :clown:

Ouch, that looks alot worse than I expected. I wonder how much you'll get back from the blasters??

I hope you've got a few panels and some welding gas on order.

Hey thats what I call progress!! Flicking back to the first couple of pics it's really moved on! Was it owned by the "Luke" twins because they left their name tags on the harnesses! And those cans!! Look like they should be in a 007 film! Anyway, good luck and keep us posted!
Regards....Dave

Not much to report at the moment, stripped and cleaned the brake calipers down ready for new seals and pistons, should be here this week and also had a go at the rear subframe with the angle grinder, it looks it pretty good shape, mainly surface rust.

Other than that, still waiting on the blaster to fix his trailer. Going to have a go at doing the rear subframe myself, VAT free day at machine mart should save a few quid on the blasting kit.

Well now I have no excuses for not getting on with it after collecting this bad boy last night. 8 hours worth of Argonshield Light, can keep it for a year, £25 fill up.

Not much to report other than that. I've rebuilt the calipers with new seals and pistons and cleaned them up, just waiting on a new dust cover as I managed to bend one of them.

Had a go at blasting the rear subframe but got bored quickly so will take that to get done too!

Welder - Check
Gas - Check
Sheet steel - Check
Miserable day - Check

Perfect day to start practising welding. Results below, pretty happy with them seeing as this is the first time I'd ever tried welding. As you can see I need some practice on the join though!

First pic from the top, second pic showing penatration.

Good news.

Finally dropped the shell at the blasters this morning.

He's keeping it whilst I'm away, collecting in the new year.

Got the shell back, there's more of it than I expected!

I was half expecting them to hand me a black bin liner with the remains. They've done a pretty good job of getting rid of the underseal and covered the car in a light green primer.

Lots of work to do!

Will add pictures ASAP.
