Hi Peeps,

Getting my Mini supercharged this week. Its a mini sprite. 53.1 bhp. Should be about 130 bhp after.

Just letting you know, and would I be aloud to come to any TMF stands that are at shows, and even get a sticker for the Mini to promote the site too?

Cheers Guys

Ollie

Yea I was going to guess low 5s.

Impressive mate. I think I'm aiming for something around 130 for my engine when its done. Hence asking lol.

well i think it is well worth the money, i got mine from Vmax Scart. Im in this months Mini World Mag and asked what is better, vmax or mini speed. I would say Vmax, U get alot better 'stuff' in the kit.

And so much better than a Induction kit.

What do u have?

I've got a 99 Cooper Sportpack and a Mk1 which needs a restoration.

I've got a few thousand to spend on the engine and a close member of family who is a mini fanatic and desperate to help me build my own A-series from a kit so I'm getting an MED 1430 kit with an MED box and head. I'll be asking advice on spercifics of heads and fueling systems and good combinations next year as I've got the shell to restore first. Nightmare.

I'm not going to be going down the supercharged/turbo route though.

from 53 to 130 bhp from a supercharger! wow! What sort of price do you pay for it all, including labour to get it working? Are they reliable?

Aslong as its a mini it will qualify so you'll be allowed! :D

by the way are you just buying the kit and bolting on? Or doing any work on the rest of the engine, just wondering.

OK guys,

Looks like your interested. and the work im having done on it. It is still a standard 1275 engine but what I have bought has completly changed the power. I got the supercharger and kit from Vmax Scart and think it was propably better than Mini Speed but that is my opion.
modfied to suit , head outright
chargecooler kit
roller tip rockers
2 core radiator
fuel pump and regulator
and New Cam

The labour is expensive too but I asked if the engine can be repainted because if people are going to be looking under the bonnet I want it to look nice. :P

I would love to come along to any mini forum stands if that is ok?

Will you not need new pistons, crank etc. too? I was under the impression most of the standard parts needed to be replaced with toughened ones to withstand higher loads.

Not if you go the cheap route of running a decompression plate and two headgaskets, which to me is abit of a bodge.

dont you need to adjust the compresion accuratly when super/turbo-charging.

1.surly that would mean that its at the wrong compreesion ratio if he uses a compression plate.

2.or its at the corect ratio and you will have holes in your pistons soon :P

or
3. iv got the wrong end of the stick

when i was looking at turbo mini, i would need to work out the CR to suit how much boost im am to use . is it not the same?
and you needed to upgrade to better turbo pistons. is this not needed when supercharging???
