Just doing the brake shoes on a mates Mk1 (single leading) and the old pads are in the wrong way round etc, so with no Haynes manual handy to put us right we're stuck.
Can someone post up a pic or tell us which way round the front shoes go in as they have the friction surface favouring one edge.
Also, do the narrow shoes go on the back hubs and the wide shoes on the front or is it the other way round???
Someone has made a right lash up of fitting the last set.
Need to know asap... Thanks.

Hello
The wide shoes go on the front as they they do most of the braking.
the orientation of the linings is leading edge facing direction of forward travel (the edge favouring)

I thought that was how it should be, but when I took the old drums off and one side had front shoes and the other had rears (on the front) and they were in the wrong way round, I began to doubt myself...
