If you wanted something to be portable then i wouldn't go with a MacBook Pro. As well as being large they're far more fragile than MacBooks. I keep my Pro as my home computer on my desk and use my MacBook as my laptop for uni.

As said Apple is the way to go. I used to have a mac mini from my dads work but when he moved jobs he had to give it back. Im now using a crappy Fujitsu laptop. I want to get anouther apple computer but with buying my mini and learning to drive I cant affored it.

Another vote for Apple from me. Bought my first one on eBay for £399 - an iBook G4. Then upgraded to a MacBook, again off eBay for less than £500. Not new, no, but if your that way inclined then keep your eyes peeled. Im also running windows using a program called parallels (can run windows in a window on the Mac's desktop, or in fullscreen on spaces etc), and also using the dual boot feature that OSX leopard has. DVD re-writer, gloss screen, 2gb mem, 2.16 intel dual core processor, built in webcam, line in/out and the brilliant magsafe connector for the power port. VERY hard wearing despite what people say - ive dropped mine about 3 times from waist height now and its still fine! (dont ask :)).

110% Apple laptops!

go mac :)

i'm a mac techy at the school i work at. Really can't fault them, never had any problems with all 35 that i have to deal with, (along with the three i have at home).

You can get a second hand 17" powerbook G4 off of ebay for about £250 and upgrade the OS to leopard, its on the old power PC chip which means you won't be able to do dual boot (boot camp) but if you want a mac, then theres not really any need for a windows based laptop. You can get photoshop, office and increasingly more games on the mac now. If your planning on using photoshop for photography use, apple do some software called apeture which is great.

have a snoop around on the mac site and see what takes your fancy.

Personally, I would opt for the Mac, especially since you've had a taste of OSX. Compared to Vista, OSX can feel like it could run rings around it, especially with Vista's Superfetch feature, which is supposedly meant to help look for documents faster, but as it takes up the computer's resources, it usually makes the computer slower, as well as all the non-descript visual eye candy, which slows the thing down even more. As a result, netbooks usually have XP Service Pack 2 (or is it 3?) installed on them, as it is simply faster than its successor. OSX can pull off what Vista can't, and for that reason, buy a second hand Mac. You can't go wrong.

Oh, and this may not be a "show us yer laptop" thread, but I feel inclined to show you how much better looking a Mac is compared to other stuff on the market :) :

Blimey - I thought I was the only person on here using a Mac !

Have to second all the advice - once you go Mac you'll never want to touch anything with Microsoft
written on it again.

Best wishes
Monty
