my induction noise has always been loud, it has a nice roar to it when you floor it. After upgrading to a 1275 metro engine, i have noticed that the noise has become louder and more "tinny?". i even added some bulkhead insulation to the car in an effort to reduce the noise. the car is fine when cruising, its just when accelerating it becomes very loud. any tips to reduce the noise?

im running a standard carb, with the standard filter box and filter. the only mod (not by me) is that the air pipe and hot/cold air selector part that comes out of the filter is not fitted.

thanks

So its not a K&N element in the original filter case?

i had the original filter before i upgraded to a cone, which is very beefy sounding :ermm: but i have heard some with just an element in.

LOL!!
what exhaust you got?

Because ive got jsut a standard exhaust fitted (got an RC40 just gotta fit it all) and the downpip doesnt linkk to the manifold because its bent and it blows like a trooper. sounds like a wicked induction noise but its really horrible.

check that if you get a minute.

Well if you let your car tick over, and get a mate to cover the end of the exhaust tip with his foot and rev it, you will be able to hear if its blowing anywhere.

as you have a standard airbox with styandard filter, i dont think there is much you can do to quieten it down. apart from maybe going to a remote filter setup, where you basically have a box where the airfilter would be, then it would have a long pipe going to the front of the engine or down the side, with aa filter on the end of that.

hmm this is a little strage SU's really are quiet in terms of induction noise, nothing compared to the weber Roar. i would check for a leak somewhere, SU's tend to make a Sucking noise not a roar, which is nice, do like a good roar though!
