Brother had an altercation with a parked van in a storm from a bit of LOO, thankfully not going too quick (<30 mph)

i have not seen it in the flesh but i`m weighing up if its worth saving as the insurance have it.

Its a 1967 special edition with the manky orange interior.

thoughts? I think the wheel has moved, making it a bit more than cosmetic damage

id say it depends on how badly its bent the floor pan/ sill

its a mini so its defiantly repairable

Everything is repairable, it just depends how much time and money you wish to throw at it i suppose

Personally, I wish to throw zero at it, but i have an empty garage and a younger sibling who's feeling a tad sorry for himself.

I`ll see if i can go visit his beloved oli and see if the floor is damaged (which i dont think it is)

I think its moved where the front suspension joins to the chassis though, which worries me a tad.

Like other have said.. its do-able.

but if the floor is bent it will need replacing, the scuttle, bulk head, mabye front subby? steering rack, track rods all them little bits. inner wing, door.

Is the shell distorted? Is the window frame bent?

Its illegal but if the car means so much to him to do all that work^^ re-shell it..
I wouldn't advise it but.

its hard looking at more crashed minis, but accidents happen. Like said previously, it will be reapirable, but maybe have to be declared off the road and made into a project if the body has warped. Hope everyone is ok and the car turns out great.

its not illegal to reshell that car, however its illegal to reshell that car using a used shell. you have to use a brand new heritage bodyshell though and use as much of the original parts from the donor vehicle as possible, interior, rear subframe, engine etc etc. If its been reported as crashed and the insurance write it off, you will need to get a VIC check to re-instate it and enable you to get tax etc.

You can still tax it without a VIC. You just don't get the reminders from the DVLA. And you can't buy it online. you have to get it in the post office with all the documentation.

You won't be able to Re-register it or sell it, until a VIC has been done.

Sorry to hear about the crash tho... As long as everyone involved is okay, thats all that matters. Good luck with it all!

Looking at the pics, I would say that your subframe would be bent & drivers front floor at least, yes you could repair but it wouldn't be quick or an easy job. I f the rest of the car is sound then I would repair it or get it done. No doubts the insurance will write it off as thats what they do !!!
