Been a while away from the Mini scene, but today we're back in!

Me and Sarah (girlfriend) are doing the project together, consisting of a full strip down and rebuild, then new everything!

Sarah has given me full command of what goes in the engine bay, so power is key..

We picked it up off eBay, and collected it today where it was taken to its new home in an ex-turkey house! Its lovely and cool in there, with a hell of a lot of space to mess about in!

Its going to need lots of cutting and replacing, beginning with the sills, steps and floors. Currently no floor behind the seats!

Im sure that Sarah will be registering on the forum and helping keep the thread updated too..

Only one picture for now, to get the balls rolling.. stripdown starts on friday!

Hi there,

Well I'm Sarah the girlfriend! Not sure how much of a help I'll be, but I'm sure I'll muddle through and learn a lot on the way.

First day on the van today and we've started to strip him out.

The rust looks a lot better now that the small tree and the remains of a skip have all been removed. It still looks fairly daunting to me but Tom assures me its all do able.

Here some pictures of our progress:

Hopefully get the engine out tomorrow with the use of our onsite fork lift!

Yeah, thats the one!

Today was spent getting the engine and subframe away from the shell. The engine bay has been stripped down and treated with Hammerite Rustoleum then coated with a bit of primer....

We're off to Gaydon show tomorrow so should come back with a few bits and pieces!

Thanks for all the good lucks!

Yeah, the space we have is awesome and really does help.

Splashed out at Gaydon, and ended up filling the car with panels. Will take a few weeks to recover, and a few months to weld! Got a good few ideas from some vans, including colours and interior (Cobra Monaco Pro's look very very nice!).

Anyway, the panels include;

2x Half full floors
2x Steps extended
2x Outer sills
2x Inner Sills
2x Wings
1x Front panel
1x Full scuttle
2x A-panels
1x Crossmember

>_<

Yeah, we may have spent too much but the savings were unbelievable - by not ordering, we worked out we saved over £120.

I also purchased one of ScrewFix's welders today, see how that is for the money - but it has very good reviews...

Here are some pictures from Gaydon...

What am i letting myself in for!! yours is bad but mine is worse >_< !
I just bought the one off tmf classifieds ( the van that needs new bulk head and lots more! )
Ive always wanted a van or estate so this was my chance with an impulse buy!!
Its not until the next day you realise what youve done and just how much work your really infor!! when i showed the girlfriend the pics she replied with a sharp response of "what the f#%@ing hell have you done"! i had to reassure her it was do able but i dont think it went down to well lol!!

Best of with your van and i cant wait to get stuck into mine for the next 30years!!!
