Hello all i have a project 998 with a stage1 kit stage 3 head sw5 cam lightened flywheel and twin HS2 carbs

would anybody out there know what type of needles i would need

What needles are in the carbs right now ? They probably won't be far away - try them !

What needles are in them already? the needle should have a profile code stamped on it somewhere - usually the top or side of the top....

As bmcecosse says - they're unlikely to be that far off anyway but i would expect them to need a needle richer than standard given the spec of your engine.

You probably need a custom needle, with sw5 cam have a power figure similar to standard for idle to 3500 rpm, and improved power at mid/high revs. That means that you will need a needle that is richer from section 6.
I'd give a try with GX needles..
