a member of my now ex mini club drove this the 3 hours home from haynes at speed of up to 60mph with a bent floor and bent front subby to the stage where the car turned to the right if you didn't have hold of the wheel and the tie bar having to be extended fully to get rid of major positive camber. The rest of this club seem to think this exceptable behavoir hench i have now left the club as i do no not. what do you think would you of driven it?

To be fair that is a bit of a stupied thing to do. When did they crash it while they were their or on the way their or what. Please to tell me they left their house to go up their with the car in that state.

they crashed it on the test track when they were there, every one at my club seems to think driving it home is exceptable but i feel it was unsafe and putting other road users at high risk so i have quit my club in protest.

They obviously value the cost of a tow more than their own life and the lives of those around them. :D

Fair play for leaving the club.

Well if they did it their I can understand them needing to get it home but doing that kinda speed while the cars in that shape is dangrous.

If VOSA had pulled him he would of been in a bit of bother. Thats a serious collision, I wouldn't even tow it. Transporter would be needed. With a bent subby it will effect handling to a point of being dangerous.

You done the right thing mate, you where sensible and looked at the situation, they would of took notice if he would of had ANOTHER smash.

Paul.

bombing around roundabouts with a bent tie bar that could be interesting.

admittedly ive driven home with a bent tie bar..didnt know it was bent though.

but id say doing 60 with that amount of damage couldnt of helped the damage on the mini to well

I've driven home after an accident, admittedly not at 60, but if the car drives, then why not. just be careful. And dont forget you've only heard one side of the story. maybe he wasnt driving like a loon???

did he do anything to drirectly put you or any one you know in danger
if he did i would slap him! if not its his choice and he would have to live with any consequences
i dont condone this behavour but there are many many unsafe cars on the road
may be it was due to lack of funds (would you have just left you mini dumped for a week or so till you could recover it)
think leaving your club over this is ott
if you had a work colleague with a unsafe car would you quite work???
to many people worrie to much about others

sorry if you think i'm having ago at you I'M NOT

well if you are driving on the road your responsible for the safty of others around you so shoudn't drive an unroad worthy car end of. in my mind if a car wouldn't pass a mot you shouldn't use it on the road and he was able to borrow the £ get it recovered as well but would of had to wait

If it was my mini and I didn't have recovery insurance, so long as it could drive, stop and turn fairly easily I would probably have limped home if I didn't have far to go, but only if I didn't have far to go. Not sure I'd be comfortable on a motorway in that! I have recovery so I would just use that though!? If they didn't have breakdown cover, why not? Was the first thing I ever bought when I got my mini.

Seems a shame to quit your club just because someone else was a plonker, maybe just have words with the individual and leave it at that?

So craig are you saying that that car is road worthy its pretty clear just from that pic its not. even driving it more than a few miles is stupied even if driving normally.
