Noticed recently that my 1984 austin mini is leaking petrol, rather badly!! I've found where but no idea what it is lol!! Middle of the engine at the back just under some black plastic bit of the engine! A little bit of tube with plastic ends which push on to (at one end) a gold bit!?!?!? Sorry im rubbish with engines so i dont know what things are called! Not yet got a picture but will do soonish! But if anyone knows what this is and can help then THANK YOU =)

Sounds like thats the OEM location for fuel fuel line - plastic bit might be the air filter box, gold thing might be an inline fuel filter, probably best to post a photos.

I have moved my fuel line away from the very very hot exhaust manifold as this is how many fires in minis have started

Take a photo with the airbox taken off - the large round plastic box on the top - taken off with the 2 wing nuts, then you can see what the fuel line is like underneeth it

Its the fuel pipe from the fuel pump to the carb.

I'd go a local motor factors take the pipe with you and ask if they have any fuel pipe same size as the flexible ends, then just renew the ends.

The metal bits metal because of the heat off the exhaust

should be hose clips securing it as well

You need to get hold of some replacement pipe, with matching internal diameter. Might as well change both ends while you have the metal pipe off.

Try halfords in the morning - take your original as a pattern. If its not urgent, perhaps a local motor factors will be cheaper, but doubt will be open sundays

You could change the whole pipe to a braided type - but you would need to route it well away from the exhaust.

A braided hose is way better than the steel one.
