has the steelpipe failed in 20yrs no, so how can braided rubber be better, just goto the car parts place and replace the little black bits of pipe and fir some fuel clips and it will be fixed.

Those braided hoses are rubbish. I replaced the whole lot on my VTEC mini for braided hoses from Demon Tweeks (not cheap...!!!), and then had to replace them all again 4 years later as the rubber had just crumbled inside the braid. You couldn't see it either, so it was only when pressurised fuel sprayed out everywhere that i discovered the problem...!!!

Yeah, I would never say a braided pipe is better than a proper steel one!!
That pipe is hard metal for a reason, anything else is just a bodge.

Mate you really don't want to be seeing if Wilko's have fuel hose lol,
Halfords (if you must) sell it in all sizes and can do it by length, just take one of the bits along, buy a metre of it and replace all the rubber fuel lines you can see.

You could always look on ebay if you know the bore size of the pipe, easy enough to measure.
Just type in fuel hose or pipe

Make sure that it is rated for fuel, and try and find some reinforced ones. If you are keeping the metal pipe thats cool, if you are routing it all in fuel pipe like mine is, make sure its away from the hot exhaust manifold

I just say 'if you must' when mentioning Halfords as they are not very classic-car friendly and the 'some' of their staff, who are supposed to be able to advise you don't know one end of a spanner from t'other.. bit of a case of 'Computer says NO..' lol.
Anyway, I;ve just looked at the fuel hose I used on mine and it's size is 1/4-
