Nitromors paintstripper always worked fairly well for me.

May i suggest trying Maguires All Metal Polysh? Ive used it on bare ali parts on ly kit car, worked well. its a plish that seems to leave a protective coat. Wont last forever (no polish ever does) but defo worth a try as it lasts longer than most. Got mine from Halfords. Approx £7 for a little tub (goes a long way).
