Hi, I have had my Mini (1.3i Saloon, R reg 1997/8) off the road since sept 2008 and have fired it up again. I was just going to take it for a spin down the road but the clutch pedal was not shifting at all. Any advice from you experts will be appreciated??
Thanks alot.

Hi there,
For the pedal to be absolutely rock hard then something must be stuck. Had this once where the clutch arm was actually stuck out, You could put it into gear but had no drive, after much spraying with WD40 & working the arm in & out, it freed up & was fine. You could try cracking the pipe off the top of the master cylinder & see if the pedal moves then, put a piece of rag by cylinder to stop the fluid going on the paint work.

Most likely a spot of corrosion in the slave cylinder. Try pushing the arm on the clutch housing out to see if it's free. If that confirms it's the hydraulics, unbolt the slave and sit it so you can hammer the piston down the bore with a bit of rod (socket extension bar), that should free it.
