if you go Bruge, Brussels, Achen and in you'll find it is not only fast but a damn sight smoother/better roads.

traffic is not as bad as you may think.

sub 4 hours quay to door

well took some ruuners 8 hours using that route 2 years ago due to hitting loads of traffic passing through brussels

as i said is several ways and is upto the individual to decide which route thay want to take

the "Ring" its called around Brussels, and if you hit it at the wrong time, then it lives up to its name ( the arse end of the world)

Just an update on this, I've just read somewhere (RCC I think) that someone's just been the Brussels way and there was major roadworks on the ring road.

E42 for me, then the scenic route over that Deutsche/Belgique National Park doodah that we went through last year I reckon.

All in all, it's up to you how you get there. Sean's way is the way that seems to work, but there are some bumpy roads in Belgium. The scenic route we went on was great last year. From what I've read, the Brussels way can be quicker, but if you get the timing wrong, or there are delays, it can be a P.I.G!

Just dont go Via Brussels...follow Stig if you want to get there before anyone else, he is always first to arrive!! i normally drive home to London that way too!! done brussels once and got stuck at 8 in the morning and missed our ferry at Calais...

Via Charleroi...and you wont go wrong!! the brussel ring is compared to the M25 on a bad day.
