Hi all,

Recently, I've had the odd person knock on my door asking if I'd like to sell my Mini.

I don't mind so much, but last night really topped it off.

2x chavs, knocked my neighbours, then my front door at nearly 11PM asking if I'd sell the car. Scrote #1 then said 'I want it for banger racing'!!!

Now I know it isn't the most imacculate car out there, but it's pretty presentable and totally original. I could hardly believe it to be honest, he was thinking in the region of £100. These people are not only totally deluded, stupid and inconsiderate, they're also dangerous, desperate and devoid of any morals whatsoever. Hence, I'm now slightly concerned they want to nick the Mini.

I use the car every other day, it's taxed MoT'd and insured so it's hardly as if it never goes anywhere.

I've put a 'not for sale' sign in the back window now..

Just stupid chavs... or something more sinister???

Probably just stupid chavs, because if it was anything more clever then they wouldn't make their interest known to you...

Make sure it's locked up and secure, and keep your eye out for them again. No-one can make a car thief proof however you can try deter them best you can with good lighting, immobilising it (various ways to do this without spending much money) etc.

I know 99% of people would not dream of stealing a car... hence the likelyhood of it going is slim.. but it seems so vulnerable on it's own!! It's well off the road, but there are prying eyes everywhere. It's also immobilised and as locked up as a Mini can be.

I'm probably just worrying over nothing.. but you can't be too carefull!

you cant be too carfull no.

i live in a good area but i always keep mine in the garage and i think ill be getting a steering wheel lock too.

however most classics are stolen by sticking them on the back of a car transporter so no amount of locks will really help.
except maby a road wheel clamp

This is true.. short of chaining it to the ground with £1k worth of chains and locks, I don't think there's a lot that can be done!

May wire it to the mains >_<

I've had this loads of times.

I've got pretty grumpy in the passed and said "Is there a sign?" then not slept for worry for days.

I once had a row with a guy in the driveway who was insistent he'd owned my car in the passed. I explained that was impossible, but he wouldn't have any of it.

In exasperation I asked him what colour it was when he had it "Oh it was the same colour." I explained I'd had it painted in the current colour but he still wouldn't go away!!

I've got a "danger of electric shock" sticker on the window, in the hope that chavs won't touch it

I've raced bangers for 25 years, never called on a car at that time of night, maybe i'm too respectful.. and they'd have to have a deathwish to want to banger a mini. Something iffy me thinks, you need to block it in or disable it somehow
