Yeah, thing is, I would be covering it in paint and then I'd be gutted! No more weave visible!
i am trying to go for MKI look on my MKV. How much are the GRP ones, for a skin only? I'd like a MKI stylee bonnet too (I converted me metal one but it looks a bit hashed to be honest)

just thought, why not leave the reg plate & lamp area unpainted? that would show weave in a subtle way. :erm:

Cool, I will PM you when I get back off my holiday the week after next. I need to get the bootlid and bonnet then. I will go for GRP bonnet and boot lid me thinks.

Though I am flying from Speke, could pick em up on the way back past!

Well, I am having the car silver or olde english white, with a black roof. So if I had the bootlid black, I dunno, maybe it'd look like a good contrast?????

well, at Mini7 racing yesterday, I sponsor a car, 82 Andy Rutherford, and a few racers want the Carbon Fibre semi painted. As in some weave leaft showing. So the idea of the reg plate area is good i think, because it will only be when you look close that you will see it.

Yeah, deffo a good idea. I won't be the one painting it though, I guess it'd just be a case of doing some good masking off.

I'm probably wrong but what if you only put a light layer of paint over the CF wouldn't that still show the weave if you look closely? The shading would probably be totally different to the rest of the car though.

Might buy some stuff off you in a few months when I have some cash because my bonnet is rusting, insurance shouldn't need to know as it's just a replacement not a mod :fear:

I think the Cf is covered in a smooth gelcoat anyway, so you can see the weave but it is not actually textured. So I doubt you'd see it through thin paint????

I think it would be hard to get a thin equal coat over the whole thing anyway.

It was just because I've heard that the F40 has paint so thin you can still see the weave through it and thought it might apply here.
