Rather then call it a austin mini or morris mini I think (if it did happen) call it a MG Mini.

I've always thought there should have been an MG Mini when the MG Metro was out, of course they were trying to replace the Mini with the Metro  but sales of the mini would have shot up if they'd MG'd one!

The RSP was probably the closest. :xxx:

Yep, u're right. And the RSP used the famous MG metro engine, a bit detuned to comply the emission requirements.

I see no reason why MG should not get a license from BeEmTroublesyou to build something Mini-ish. But then: will there be a market for it since the BINI is around? And if there is a smal market, will it pay out to develop a vehicle that complies with actuall EU regulations to make it road legal (the UK is the only country with a 'kit car' law AFAIK)? I think it's higly unlikely this is true... And I wouldn't buy one either

Talking of MG Mini's I am sure I have seen a picture of a prototype one from the 70's... Had an Elf/Hornet front end with a special MG grill and a normal back end. Cooper S internals I would imagine. Anyone else seen this?

isnt one of the attractions of the mini enthusiast is that it's not made anymore? I think it would lose something if it went back into production??

Maybe that was Wally Hall's "MG Gnat"? A one-off MG styƶed race Mini from the late 60's/70's.
