Well its been a while since i've weight myself, partly because I know i've put alot since starting uni i've never drank so much alcohol and so much crap food.

Now i'm feeling the burden and tipping the scales at 100kg and getting the odd stretch mark, aswell as my 36" waist pants getting abit tight!

So i've been going out on my bike most days over the summer rather than getting lift/driving everywhere, and haven't been drinking so much (since i'm not at uni) But once i start back at uni, i wont have my bike there but will have a fair bit of free time during the week.

So, what i'm planning is to buy a half decent exercise bike, and a new set of weights. I'm pretty well built in terms of muscle (since muscle building is all i've ever done at the gym) and want to keep it that way, hense the weights.

I'm also going to cut back on certain foods and reduce my portions, aswell as drink a fair bit more water.

Just flicking through the argos catalouges looking at the fitness stuff and came across supliments like this: Link

Read some of the reviews and everybody says they work and they always seem to run out of stock quickly. But since thats just a months supply, the price is pretty dam high, and after looking through the ingredients and finding out the main one is 'bitter orange peel' i'm not to keen on spending that much.

So i went on ebay and the choice on there is pretty endless and much cheaper.

Theres ones like these: Link Which are suppost to be extremme weight loss pills, but when you look at the how they work bits and list of the ingredients and their jobs, they look like they're just packed with energy boosters and caffine, so not too keen on those.

However, these ones look much more appealing: Link The 'how it works' bit and list of ingredients looks much more appealing as a diet aid pill, looks more like it works with your body properly. The main ingredients helping improve metabolism and reduce cholestral and others help turn stored fats into energy.

They look quite good and the feedback seems to speak for their performance.

What do people think? Anybody used stuff like this before? At the moment i'm thinking they're worth a go...

I'm sure i'll loose weight just eating less and excercising more, but something like this would be good to help me loose extra weight.

most weight loss tablets are really just laxatives - you just cack more, others bind with the fats you eat - and make you cack more.

try transforumulas international in Manchester - their cack-more tablets seemed to get great reviews and they sold lots on the trade stands I built for them at beauty shows.

If you start loosing weight at an alarming rate you will end up with more problems? Whats the rush with tried n tested methods?

Point is if its working, stick with it, end of?

Loosing weight isn't hard, just regular exercise and a well balanced diet is all it takes. It's worked for hundreds of years, so there's no reason why it won't work now. If you feel you're overweight then it's because you either overindulging or not burning off enough of it.

Defiantly agree with what’s said above. You really don't want to loose too much weight, too fast. Otherwise you'll have much worse problems then not being able to fit into your jeans.

I've lost a fair bit the last few months, i didn't really notice until i weighed myself and realised it finally when i went to get some new jeans :(.

From what i can think, its just loads of water and a fair bit of exercise really.

there really is no alternative to breaking a sweat, drinking lots of water and eating far more carefully.

I've lost just over a stone in the last 2 months with help from the MRs, I'm still 17 stone but its working well - I feel more energetic and can now get into size 36.

PS the wife reminded me she tried the Transformulas weight loss tablets for 3 days and nearly turned herself inside out - she doesnt recommend them at all. :(

Being on my feet all day at work has made a huge difference for me, lost a stone since last year. Wasn't actually planning to though.

Well regular exercise is what i'll be doing. The tablet idea is to help me make the most of the exercise, by uncouraging fat burning, which these tablets help to do.

If i did notice any downsides, i'd just stop taking them. Thats why i don't really want to spend twenty odd quid on them, incase it's wasted.

Mike, I'd listen to Roofless on this, don't use them.

Not only do they usually contain laxatives, they tend to have a lot of caffeine and similar components to heroin and ecstacy. Most will make you feel jittery and wired, which helps to supress your appetite, but they also cause you heart rate and blood pressure to go up dramatically. Some people can also have severe allergic reactions to whatever people stuff in to these pills and you won't know until you try them, so all in all best to not try them!!

The simple things like doing more exercise, eating less of the rubbish stuff and drinking less alcohol should help :) you've just got to have a bit of will power to see it through.

not sure if they still do them but wasnt there a time where weight loss pills were just tape worms eating you from the inside out? :)

when i wanted to drop weight fast i would use these combined with a high protein diet and lots of weight training.... with probs only 20min of cardio per workout

they are not a "weight loss" pill in that they don't block fats and make you crap lots, they are a thermogenic... they help you loose weight by speeding up your metabolism... the only side affect is that they make you sweat like a *woman of ill repute* when you work out... so make sure you take a towel with you

I know for a fact that the weight loss pills need to be used with a strict diet, so if your going to buy the pills you still need to eat everything at the right time and the right amount etc, if your going to the bother of all that, AND buying the pills, your much better off just eating the healthy meals....

Also, i don't know what your like at swallowing tablets, but maximuscle thermobol are absolutly massive, like about an inch long and about a 1/3rd of an each thick...

Just go for the water and exercise mate, its far better, and once youve burnt off the fat, youll be more carefull about what you eat, because of what you have to go thru to lose the weight.

And you never know what they put in those tablets.......

i have never tried weight loss pills but i have lost a considerable amount of weight 45kg (7 stone) since march i have had a gastric bypass operation for me it was a last resort step to loose the weight before i had any major medical problems. It has not been an easy time the last few months but now things are starting to look positive again i feel better and i have to now buy all new clothes as none of the clothes in the wardrobe fit anymore

but i would have to agree with roofless dont take the pills exercise and eat according to the diabetics plan

1/3 of your plate meat
1/3 of your plate potatoes, pasta or rice
1/3 of your plate veg

at least 2 litres of water a day ( i am always carrying around a 1/2 litre bottle with squash in it )

and regular exercise (walking riding a bike or even a gym)

good luck its never easy in the beginning

I tried a similar version of these, THERMAPRO, they seemed to work well for me, supressed my appetite, and give you a boost in the gym, but as mentioned abouve you really get a sweat on, another side effect was quite good, (wife thought so) :D thay acted like viagra, and inceased labedo!!!!!!
may have just been me though!

exercise and eating healthily is the best and only way to lose weight

yes taking tablets will help you lose weight but as soon as you stop taking them you'll pile the weight back on. aside from the fact they probably do more harm than good, they cost a lot and can become addictive. i believe the side effects arent particularly nice either

i lost 3 stones just from purely doing exercise - gym 4/5 times a week - and watching what i eat

if you just think - everything i eat will show on my body - that way when your going to eat something, you can decide if its worth eating or not >_<

dont expect results straight away it took me nearly a year and a half, but the weight will stay off in the long run and you wont be poisoning your body with crap
