!995 Rover Mini Sprite Automatic 1275 Single Point Injection

Can Anybody help?
We sent Boris away to have a gearbox with no starting problems whatsoever no he wont start :cry

His Fuel Pump primes as you can hear it and pump fuel up front ;)
Starter Motor is functioning properly :( :D
Battery is fully charged an nearly new so not a problem :-

Once the car is started it will happily start all day long but let the engine go cold over night and it refuses to start however it will once its had its fix of its "Crack Cocaine" also know as "Easy Start" down the air intake :genius:

If it starts and runs after that whats in the stuff and im hoping theres a clue in there as to why it wont start?

Something enables it to start when Easy Start is used so what is the Easy Start Mimiking that the starting system isnt doing but should be?

Maybe they left the coolent temp sensor disconnected as it is hidden away and easily forgotten, does the gauge work?

the coolant temp sensor is underneath the inlet manifold, on the right side as you look at the engine. Its close to the bulkhead, and you will need childs hands to get in there without disconnecting something.

Check to see if it is infact connected. The wires run from the same area as the stepper motor wich is also on the right side of the inlet manifold, where the throttle linkage is. there will also be a single fairly thick wire with a spade connector, which should also be connected to the underside of the inlet manifold to the PTC heater element. Use a mirror to see if they are connected or not. If they are connected, its possable that the sensor is faulty. It could also be faulty wiring as I have known people to remove SPi engines with the manifolds still in place and end up tugging the wiring loom as they were unaware that it was still attached to the inlet manifold. Others I have heard of where the wiring had been trappped when the engine went back in.
