Any new news on Erm!!

No not yet, once Scott has finished his apprenticeship and depending where he gets placed then he will have some money to start moving fwd with him. It's a waiting game I'm afraid. Hopefully by the end of August beginning of sept we will know where he's going. Also his mainstream car is costing him a small fortune. New gearbox going in as the other spat it's internals onto the under tray last week.

I'm hoping to have my shell in for its re paint around September time (bit bloody optimistic though)!!

Just a quickie, and can't remember reading it or seeing it in this thread, did you bother with all the inner sill slinging bracket stiffeners and outer brackets??

I believe they were only used for shell stacking and are not needed in normal use, or am I talking utter rubbish, to me there just more internal seams and joints to rust again later.....much later

On Erm I did not fit any of the brackets and also deleted all of the jacking points.

Now in hindsight I would still fit the jacking points as it does tie things in nicely there but would still not fit the slinging bkts internally or externally. Now if I was going for concourse or the like then yes I would for originality but otherwise no.

My personal choice and my clubby is the same. Jacking points only on Paddy.

Well Scott has now got a placement at work he's happy with so he actually said to me the other day he has funds spare to start finally doing stuff to Erm. Now he just needs to make his mind up in what direction he will go with him.

I can feel a roll cage being installed and the Carbon Fibre roof being fitted first.

Erm may go through a radical change if Scott has his way. Think Hayabusa and rear wheel drive. Promotive would appear to have been shelved due to not pushing out enough ponies. The mind boggles.

Stone chip i hate stone chip. I have learnt the hard way that its fickle stuff and that certain brands do not like primer, however we have overcome this glitch with the mighty U-POL GRAVITEX. We like this product a lot however we do not like Tetrosyl Stone Chip as it reacts big time with the primer we have sprayed on Erm.
So far so good after Scott and myself scraped off the Tetrosyl and flashed over the first few coats.

Before we finish off it needs several more coats then we will move onto the front inner wings and outer wings. Before this happens i need to weld in the bonnet support stay bracket and the water bottle bracket.

Loving your work, spent more time reading this thread than working today.  Shhh  dont tell the boss.

I have a quick question. I was reading this thinking the same about reactions with what I assume is red oxide primer you are using.  Did you use proper red oxid? or the hammerite version and did you have any reactions with regards to the stone chip or main colour top coat?
