Please don't scrap it, every one we lose now is so difficult to replace so the less of them there are the more chance that somone has to go without and thats just not right. Everyone who wants a Mini should be entitled to have one.

I doubt many people will say scrap it. Being enthusiast an all.
My advice is do whats best for you financialy, I know its a shame too see a mini get scrapped, but it's whats best for you.
Scrap it, i know its a classic and what not, but for the money the scrapage scheme is offering, you wont get the same sort of money if sold privately...
to be honest, i agree with the above.

As soon as a dealer find out that you want to use the scrappage scheme you can generally kiss any other discounts goodbye. You are more likely to get a better deal by doing the above.

however, be warned that the scrappage scheme isnt all as magical as it makes out...1k comes from the dealer, and 1k comes from the government...but the 1k that 'comes' from the dealer is most likely to be added to the price of the car. e.g. the day the scrappage scheme came in, all the cars in the showroom went up a grand...if u go int a showroom and stamp ur feet for a better deal...u can save a substantial percentage off ur new car! each salesman has a given percentage they are allowed to discount off a new car!
good luck! and please dont scrap the mini!! someone with the skills to restore could get plenty of fun out it yet!

Not true i work in a dealership and car prices didnt go up at all, the price rises come in way before the scrappage started.heres an idea...sell the mini to someone who will restore and look after, then get down the car auctions with ur 600, buy a more modern car that will suit you for a year, i seen a 2001 renault sceinic fully fledged go for £400 last week, so bargains to be had...then a year down the line trade it in for a new car...you've then got cash in your pocket from the mini, and £2000 off a new car!

1) you scrapping a classic car which is clearly outrageous
2) you buying a hyundai
3) you coming on a mini enthusiast forum stating what want to scrap a mini
4) you buying into the government spin about the scrappage scheme. the only thing this scheme does is support foreign industry at UK taxpayers expense
