usually on a lcb you don't have a flexi joint as such.

you have a knuckle joint that flexes. if that makes sence

Dont think it would cause this issue.

You should go to the back of teh car when the zaust is cold and grab the tail pipe and wiggle it left and right, that will show you if its knocking off any part of the car

Wee update...

Put the fuel pressure back up very slightly, so it's now about 1/8th less pressure than before messing with it. Have to say, the car is running very well now - although has the occasional period/drive where it get's up to it's old tricks. Realising this intermittent caper is now really making me think a sensor is on it's way out or is actually bust. Going along to the local diagnostic dude tomorrow to see if they can connect up to my car. If not, trip to Edinburgh is on the cards.

Either way, the adjustment of the pressure has helped a lot - so thanks very much for the suggestion/help !!!

I'll let you know how it goes at the diag dude...

I have a few spare sensors here if you want to fire over your welcome to try. All came off a working car. If not I can rip them off mine to try.

Update on this...

Mike very kindly had me through at his place recently. He ran a diagnostic check on the sensors and generally had a look around too see if anything was wrong with the car.

6 sensor faults came back, but that was due to me unplugging them and cleaning them. After a few restarts it showed no faults so all's good as far as they go.

One thing that was clear is that my exhaust manifold is possibly the cause of my problems. The car's never really been right since that was changed a few years back. I had assumed that the mechanic had damaged something (he damaged my lambda sensor at the time, but I got that fixed). The manifiold I have has the lambda boss in the middle branch only getting a reading from one port, not at the junction of all three like the standard part does. So I have a new manifold on order - one with the boss at the Y. Hopefully this will help. Got to wait a few weeks for the part though so I'll get back when I have it fitted.

I'm going to also send the injectors away for cleaning and refit with new o-rings to see if that helps too.

I 'd like to take this opportunity to thank Mike very much for his time, patience and help with my car! You're a top geezer!

Mike did it again!

He had me and the car round at his place and fitted the new manifold... WOW what a difference!!

Completely cured any hesitancy the engine had. Also discovered there was a split in the exhaust too, so just aswell it was sorted now before it fell off.

Yer a top man Mike - thanks very much man!!

Just in-case anyone's interested, the original manifold (with the single port lambda) was supplied by Wood and Pickett... the one I now have fitted is a Maniflow Stage 2 with the boss where the two outer pipes meet.
