After Driving Boris now for Over a year im Fed up of his pathetic Standard Pea Shooter Exhaust ;)
My other Half has Finally Relented and Said Boris can have a Shiny New Exhaust

I really Want this one

Thing is im not sure now whats for the best?
I Want a nice burble on Start up/Tickover and the new exhaust to have a fair bit to say when you go go

But i dont want it to be soo loud i get pulled up by the Boys in Blue every Five Minutes and Fall Out With my Neighbours :P

So is that Maniflow suitable?
I Want a Centre Exit that has two boxes but some places sell it with just a strait Pipe which i think is a bit sad :P

Am i better going just for One Tailpipe from the Backbox or Two like the one Shown?
(i Like Two  )

Also been looking at Janspeeds at Avonbar but theres no piccys

Ive also been advised that Maniflows though Very Good are just mild steel and once the green paint wears off they rot like mad

Any Ideas Views or Recomendations before i buy?

Any piccys too? Anybody know what the Janspeeds look like?

Huggz
Jodie

You only want to get a new exhaust so you overtake me more i know what you are up to my friend

I haven't seen Janspeed exhausts on sale for the classic Mini for quite some time, (only the Bmini) they look quite similar to the Maniflow, but have different tailpipe designs. What you suggest is good, I use Maniflow & like Spenner says, for normal use, one silencer is ok. I fitted a single box DTM to a friends car & it's well made & not too loud.

Go for Maniflow, really good build quality. I just cant decide between a twin box or single box, but it will be a side exit 1 3/4.

A straight through or single box means that from the manifold its just a centre pipe going all the way to the back box which is louder than a twin box which has a silencer in the centre pipe which links to the rear box.

Thanks Guyz
has anybody had a Maniflow long term? is there anything that can be put on them to preserve them a bit like a waxoil but for exhausts?
Or is it just a case of giving it a lick of paint every so often? Oh yeh and do i need some sort of mounting kit or do they come with them?

My current Maniflow exhaust (twin-box/side exit) has been on there for about 7 years and it still looks pretty good and sounds nice.

My Maniflow LCB has been on there since around 1997.

But was advised the only downside was that they are mild steel and can get tired after a while though if i get a few years out of it ill be quite happy

Stainless stuff tends not to corrode (however shoddy made stainless stuff will corrode after a while). I'd definiately advise going twin box (silencer and back box). I had a single box system before and after 2 weeks it just got on my nerves. It was just way too loud. Not nice on motorways at all. Whereas the twin box just has a nice burble at idle then when you give the beans it sounds the nuts but still quiet at high revs when cruising on part throttle.

But now i've got a minispares twin box system and it's much nicer. I haven't heard a bad word about maniflow systems so i'd go with theres. The minispares kit took a bit of fettling so i wouldn't get theres unless you have the means to bend the pipes. Are you wanting a manifold aswell or just a exhaust system? It was the lcb and y piece that took the fettling so if you are wanting just the middle pipe and back box then minispares would probably be fine.

Thanks Andrew ;)
with Boris being injection with a CAT im just going backwards from there for the time being :P Maybe in the future ill replace the standard LCB for a better one but for now ill just stick with the bits backwards from the CAT

Really Looks like the Maniflow is the one to go for :P

No bother ;).

It makes sense for the time being. Do SPi's have a seperate inlet to exhaust manifolds? Just curious that's all.

Even if the paint does come off (which it shouldn't because it's maniflow) you can always buy some high temperature paint and give it a coat to keep it nice :P.

Cheers,

Andrew

Maniflow also supplies the fitting kit separately.

I put a post up last week as I had just fitted a Maniflow system to my '95 Spi and I couldn't belive the difference-it felt like I had more power and it was definately different and not me just thinking it was, I went for a complete system that included an LCB manifold which probably helped and I wonder if the cat was old and knackered inside. I painted the manifold in silver VHT to try and stave off any rust as my old V8 had stainless steel manifolds that got some surface corrosion in next to no time.

I went for the Maniflow 1.75" side exit as I'm led to belive thats about as big as you want to go on a standard engine without any detrimental effects, I also chose a two-box system as Julian at Min-its seems to think that outside of the car they don't make much of a difference noise-wise but inside a single-box exhaust will gradually wear you down especially on dual carriageways and motorways.

When I first had it I thought it didn't sound much better than standard but after a few miles and a bit of carbon inside it and it sounds much nicer, not loud but I can drive at a certain revs and speed and it sounds really good. I do wonder if I should've tried a single box system though.

Overall I'm very pleased with my Maniflow system, it went on with absolutely no problems and they're not the most expensive so I wouldn't worry too much about them rotting away soon-at least they paint them!
