Hello, i have a late 1275 mini engine that has an electronic oil pressure sender and i am wanting to fit my earlier mechanical gauge up to it. Does anyone know what size the threads are as i am struggling to fine a fitting to attach my oil line.

If you are talking about the tap in the block near the distributor, I believe you will find that it is 1/8 BSP. However, I have found 1/8 NPT fittings will also work. With each size you need to wrap the threads with a bit of Teflon thread tape before installation.

I'm pretty sure the block is npt but the pipe unions may well be bsp.

The difference is 1 thread per inch so good enough over 1/2 a dozen turns.

My own experience is that NPT fittings fit well.

I have a friend in OZ who swears that the taps are BSP. However, in addition to the difference in pitch, the NPT thread should be slightly larger in diameter than a comparable BSP thread. So... the NPT should not go into the block... but it does.

Regardless of what it REALLY is, you should be able to use either BSP or NPT. Just make sure you wrap the threads with Teflon tape.
