If it does go you'll lose drive to that wheel as the drive shaft is now trying to turn air had this happen to me, bits of cage all over with ball bearings running off down the road

Clamp the driveshaft with some mole grips on the inside of the subframe near the pot joint,
that will make sure the pot joint dont come out of the gearbox and spill oil all over ya drive when ya take the cv off

That's a good idea. I like that. Better than mine.
Can you picture me holding the [very greasy as the boot had split] drive shaft in one hand and whacking the cv joint with the other?
In the semi dark as my garage has no power?
