Hey all, I'm planning a bit of a spruce up on Flo sometime soon, I would like to change to W+P arches, but I know they fit to the arch lip, and I have recut the profile on my front arches to allow for wider wheels, so I'm wondering if they will fit properly.. Anyone who has done this or tried, please let me know!

Cheers, Pete

Ive done it with my 6x12's. It was just trial and error, fold down the lip so you are straightening it, then cut vertical slots into the wing every couples of inches. fold the wing up, grind excess metal so that the lip is about the same width as before. I wouldn't go to mad other wise the arch wont stretch enough to bolt onto the lip. Mine just miss, any more trimming the arch will not stretch further.

When trimming remember that the arch slopes downwards as it comes outwards (if that makes sense), so keep on holding the arch up and checking for clearence.

Mine are genuine w&ps I know copies have more flex in them.

The result.

Yes I'm aware of how to shape the arch, that is already done. I was just wondering if the arches would work with cut arches seeing as they are designed to fit on the original lip. I figure they should, going by yours and others I've seen. Cheers!

Old thread revival !

hi all,

i’m looking for information on this too. I will need to cut my front wings so that the wheels don’t touch. Has anyone any pics ?

I was going to go for sports pack arches, I bought some cheap rubber ones and they are too wide for my 12 x 6.5 wheels.

Hi Pete,

How did you get on with this? I've bought 12x6's and I'm looking to fit the W&P arches myself..

Hi,

I got nowhere actually. I'm still none the wiser.

I don't really know what arches I want / need.

There's something about the W/P arches that I don't like, they don't go around the arches enough, would be better if they went down and under the rear valence.

I have a set of fibre glass sportspack ones and i've been cutting them down little by little until I'm kind of happy with the look when on the car and over the tyres. Not finished yet though, but it'll probably be what I'll end up keeping because it's starting to look OK.

I think the original Wood and Picket arched did wrap under the rear valance. I bought an unused, second hand set that still needed a lot of modification to fit, as I didn't want to use a rubber gasket between the arch and the wing.112.jpg

I haven't seen any for a long while as Wood and Pickett, I think, are no longer with us. MiniSpares produce two versions of their W/P arches, plastic and fibreglass, but they are nothing like the originals and the shape and fit of the sets I bought was appalling. Although MiniSpares did give me a refund. I think the only answer is to keep an eye open on the second hand front. I bought mine on eBay. Even if they are pretty battered I would still give them a go, as I said before, they will still need a good deal of fettling to fit.

Interested in seeing how much you trimmed the wing then fit these arches. I’ve got 12x6 wheels and looking to fit these arches:
