its an acid, so something alkali will help to 'cancel out' the acid. thats about all i can remember from science lessons 7 years ago with a major hangover.

I was getting the boiling water form work experience. We had one in that had a salty frothy deposit on the battery terminals that had spread. Boiling water sorted it the same day

Well, it's a strong acid so you'll need a strong base to neutralise it. I think oven cleaner is a strong base, that might work. Cant think what else you might have lying around the house to use though...

Sulphuric acid is nasty stuff, do not get it on your hands!

Neutralise supuric acid with bicarbonate of soda disolved water and use plenty of it

Vinegar is an ACID. (Acetic acid) - as above - sodium bicarbonate and water. Worry more about the floor rotting out - and throw the carpet away - it's beyond saving. DO NOT put it back in the car!

As above, vinegar is an acid, do not use it trying to wash away Sulphuric acid! and wear some gloves, avoid contact with skin and eyes, because it can be harmfull.
On the floor, it is attacking the soundfloor good, not the body itself, so heres a good reason to remove the stuff.

yeah, dont use strong alkalis to neutralise it, as you will get dodgey vapours given off, go for bicarb and lots of water

and what is baking soda? it's just easier to walk into the Asda/Tesco and pick the baking soda off the shelf than to ask for Bicarbonate of soda at the pharmacy. What is easier to get in the supermarket sodium chloride or table salt?
