Ive seen a mini with 4 X 8" subs under the rear seats. A bit OTT IMO.
Been looking at the Kenwood 6x9 subs for sale. theres a pair of X-display 6x9 subs in halfords for sale at £120 (reduced from £200). The 200watt amp and cross over is all included along with wiring and that.
Not sure if 6x9 subs would drop low enough though.

i reckon they should be.
I am going to go for components up front and a 10 or 12 inch sub in the boot.
Nice and simple and will sound good.
In a small car this will sound fine as you dont really need any rear fill.
This is the setup i used to have in my 106 until i upgraded to 2 12's!!!

Before i decide to fit subs under the back seats i want to know if i will have to drill holes into my car and take the carpet up. Anyone know?

Well, there are ways around it. I had my speaker board mounted in and it was ontop of the origional carpet. Before i decide to fit subs under the back seats i want to know if i will have to drill holes into my car and take the carpet up. Anyone know?

You can usually get a more "Airtight" fit if you take the carpet up, and seal the ribbed floor. But if its just for 6X9s, then all you have to do is cut a board to fit (Relatively easy to do) and it can be made just the right size to fit snug and hold its self in place.
I took my rear seats up and put a couple of self tapping screws through the base of the seat to hold mine in place though.
