right i have now been unemployed for now a month :D , and have been looking for jobs, and have come to a conclusion i am thinking about joining the navy, partly because i have no job and partly because its something i have always wanted to do,

so i would like to know if there is anyone out there in the navy or other armed forces and do you enjoy your decision, as i would like to know....

cheers

Have you decided on what branch you want to go into? be aware that it can take anywhere from 6 - 18 months to get in after applying.

Been in The army for twenty years now. I've been a trucker, a heli hooker, a transport cordinator, an EOD ops NCO (worked with some navy guys there, they seem to love it) and now i'm an instructor on an ATVP. :D
There's a big world out there grab it while ya can. Have a good idea what you want before you sign up as i can be hard to change trades once your in.

Best to go for something that match your current interests and/or mindset. ie engineering mindset go for ET(WE), mechanically minded go for ET(ME), varied interest with good manual skills and don't mind the weather go for Seaman Specialist (yes is an actual branch) the boats is included in this branch but be aware you also do tactical communication, upperdeck weapons, seaman ship evolutions (anchoring, boat ops, towing etc) and QM (easy bit, steer ship). There's also stores, chefs, stewards (officer cleaners ), mine sweepers, divers, surveyors, and even the fleet air arm (usually sideways entry though ie enter under another branch then swap)..erm all I can think of at the mo.

good luck with it :D need any more info just ask

My mate on here (mattdc2r) is in the RAF and he loves it. You could PM him about going into the RAF but i think he's away at the moment so i don't know when he'd reply.

it all goes down to the fact as i was not happy there, and was basically being treated like a go-for than a member of staff, it was quite frankly disgusting of how i was treated. (rant over)

well now looking to the future lol

One thing though, it seems with the Navy you will see more of the world, America, South america, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Middle east, far east and if your lucky Australia. :D
