So how did you get the pin out in the end ?
Thats the only thing still holding my engine in
Well after asking around the local garages and looking on old posts on the forum I found 3 things the help!
Put the car in reverse (makes it easier to get to the pin)
make sure you have plenty of whacking area whilst supporting the linkage as its a nasty job when its bent!
use either, a flattened nail, a precision screwdriver or a purpose drift tool (looks like a big pin).
Got mine out using a combination of all 3 one after the other and 3 days of tap tap tap whack whack owww!!!
Anyway cleaned the old engine today so its ready for selling, see the classifieds for details on this link! http://www.theminifo...hp?product=6028
using my magic cleaner over the next few days I will remove all forms of dirt from the bay, as well as drop the subframe, more likely the other way round, and then once all cleaned and painted, undersealed etc start putting it all back together!
Pic of the day! One cleaned engine!

Ish......

the engine bay has almost beeen finished with the black paint (spraying between showers unfortunately)! once done the engine will be ready to go back in! Will get some pictures up if the rain ever stops! More likely that the engine will go in monday as i've ebay stuff to sell lots of exhausts and engine bits n bobs! So once money is sorted I shall continue!
I must tidy up the wiring which is the last thing before engine is replaced but again with a lack of useable garage its a bit of an bum!

Now as for the exhaust
Use the maniflow manifold and the green maniflow back box with that link pipe youve got lent up against the wall! the other 2 are a waste of time, especially the DTM, i had one when i first got my mini and all they do is make a hell of a lot of noise! Ive now got a full maniflow system and its just so much better, im sure most others will agree!
I completly agree, I did excactly the same thing, fitted a DTM, had it about a year, now fitted a maniflow identical too that one, much better!

the green maniflow IS more restrictive......
You need too do some reading mate, it completly depends on the engine. Get vizards book it's all in there, the 2 stainless exhausts will loose back preasure in the exhaust system which will decrease the velocity in which the gasses can escape. This will loose power, they also generally use a 2" or more system which is too big. The maniflow pictured will most likely be a 1.75" system which is ideal for the A-series engine. The maniflow system is very very similar too the Rc40 type exhaust which is meant too be the best exhaust you can get for the mini.
Exhaust technology is extremely complicated and I don't even pretend too understand half of it, but I know that those 2 stainless exhausts make loads of noise and do not realy improve performance of the car.

This is the problem when your older brother decides to take his mini to bits but then fails to even try to put it back together again afterwards! * Oh did i mention he did this 2 years ago...*
Anyone want to help put together a Mini Knightsbridge? Maybe a weekend job? I need a garage again!

The latest Pictures!
After much painting between showers and a revamped wiring loom and new fuse box for the fuses outside of the box we went ahead with operation engine drop!
After bringing the engine out of the garage after being rebuilt we hoisted it up and then brought the car forward. I then took of the top ball joint bolts and split them, dropping the drive shafts out of the way, and away we went. Apologies but this is what happens when you give a woman a camera, no proper shots!
Ah well,
Dropping in!

And a BIT MORE

And once the dog had helped.

We were in!

It got too dark after this point but got the wheels back on and the frame moved out of the way, so will update in the morning!
