Hi All
Looking at Lamda sensors and have found two, but with drastically different prices - are there any differences that users can see??
http://www.minispare...mp;title=OXYGEN SENSOR LAMBDA UNIT... @ £100.68 (inc postage/vat/del etc)
and
http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item5d258302bb @ £52.73 (inc postage/vat/del etc)
... that's nearly £48 difference, so surely must be a difference???
I have a 1996 SPi

presume its mainly because one is genuine and one is bosch.
the bosch parts are always cheaper than the genuine parts for most cars
eg 600 quid for genuine volvo ecu, 250 (i think) for a bosch volvo ecu

thanks.. I keep reading 'Bosch are best' ..... any truth in this?
If they do the same function and equally well then it's a very big difference in price.....

So based on this info, is there evidence here of higher than fair prices if the same part is being sold for nearly twice as much??
Is anyone from Minispares able to explain why there is such a difference in their price? - it would be greatly appreciated.
Interesting info : http://www.bosch.com...s/Section_A.pdf

The sensor sold by minispares is an OEM sensor with an OEM part number on the box. The Bosch sensor is a bosch sensor with a bosch part number on the box.
Its just the way of the world, and ALL manufacturers do it.
If Rover were still going and you took your car to them to be fixed and they said it was the lambda sensor, they would replace it with an OEM part, not the Bosch part. If you suggested they fitted the Bosch part, even though its the same, Rover would not gaurantee it, or the work they did.
If I were Minispares, I would at least reduce the price to some where near the price of the Bosch sensor. Makes for better business. There are some people out there who still want the peace of mind that they are buying a genuine part and that it will work without hassle because of it. However, you can't go wrong with Bosch.
Read into that what you will

thanks the reply sprocket...
if the OEM part is brosch, then there should be verly little difference between all suppliers??
so in a nutshell those 'in the know' can do the job for half the price of those that assume Minispares etc sell for a reasonable price... agree Minispares need to review their prices as they are higher than Minisport/DSN etc...
again, would be very interested to know the reasoning for the price of these at Minispares.... (Simon @ Minispares pm'd to get an update)

We offer the genuine item, which whilst this is available genuine and Xpart/MG rover boxed is how we have been supplying it. This is then supplied at their retail price. However, this is one part we are about to switch over to Lucas, which will shortly see a considerable reduction in cost.
There are so many parts that are becoming NLA, we prioritise in resourcing these parts to keep vehicles on the road.

Another example of this recently is ADU7340 which is the timing flywheel sensor. Xpart retail is £64.95+ VAT, now this has been resourced its a rather more reasonable £29.99+ VAT from us
