i'll add to your answers as the previous one was very helpful :s

straight through exhaust will give you better gas flow increasing performance slightly, to get a better increase in performance it'd make sense to add a high flow air filter.

hope that helps

As above really. What year is yours because if its and earlier car then you can push the Co2 levels a bit higher i think.

My plan is to get a pipe to replace my cat (you can get them from minisport).

While im on the topic, i was wondering whether or not you can fit an LCB to an MPi/SPi??

did you mean without a silencer?
then yes it will do your head in,
if so this will do you,or your car no favours,
rover didn't spen x amount designing an exhaust for your engine just to put a straight thru pipe on it....

kids.....

if you meant just a de-cat pipe then it will gain a little power,

Is this an MPI? If it's a twin point and unmodified otherwise, a straight pipe will add very little other than noise. The engine is constrained for airflow and fuel flow, not exhaust flow. If you've got a big head and cam/rockers, basically pushing it above a true 85 hp (for reference, the vast majority of "90 bhp" kits for MPI's deliver between 75-80 "true" hp in practice) then the exhaust can be constraining.

But it's hard to go over 85 true hp on an MPI due to the fuelling limitations of the ECU, indeed, I would count myself fortunate to be pulling 80 bhp from a modded MPI with stock ECU. (and there is no easy replacement for the stock ECU, but that's another question entirely...)

a straight through exhaust system, is the design. :)

straight through, means that the silencers have a pipe that literally goes straight through it and lots of holes on the inner pipe which then absorbs the exhaust noise without decreasing gas flow so much as a normal silencer.

Rover didn't put a stage 1 kit on their minis, but people do, and people get a good power increase from it.

Rover didn't manufacture adjustable bottom arms and tie bars as standard, but people put them on.... why? because its a modification to make things better/more reliable

Although i do agree, not putting a silencer on its pretty pointless... (unless your part of force racing )

you certainly can, the only difference is the boss for the lamda sensor on the injection LCBs.

hope that helps

I really want to get rid of my Cat but someone just told me on a post that I have only just posted! .. that if you get rid of the cat and it was made with one u can get pulled over. The vosa are pulling cars over and doing checks, just talking to my mate and he was pulled by the police for a check (safety) but they an check ur emissions too! I really want to get rid of the cat, but some people have said that it's best to keep the cat on, so that if u get pulled u pass the check. I was thinking that I could just keep the cat off for the year and just pu it back on for the mot?

i doubt that police will have a gas meter in the back of the car...

doubt they'd pull you over just to check your emissions.
