Surely you'd notice something as important as that when you're buying it, especially as you'll have the V5 with the registration year on it as well :ermm:

You shouldnt be asking if its ok to mod your own car?! :ermm:

Yes its a rare model but who forked out for it? Im in the prosess of restoring my Mk2, Its having wider wheels and arches etc and non-standad paint, but its my car and I like the modded classic look. If i was planning on selling one day i would think twice abou it but im hopefully keeping it for good.

Still reckon it looks like a MK3 Cooper S.
71 is right and 6K is on the money too.

I totally agree, its your car, but it really is a beauty! Please, do what i did, pick up a cheap, low mileage, Mk3, like my '91 John cooper, and do that up! I paid £1700 for mine, and it left me with pocket money to make modifications! With 6k, you could make an absolute gorgeous mini!

Nice pic i think we would all like to see a few more under hood and inside of it,i like so far the bumper and wheels with caps, looks like its had more than a paint job in its life.If its real and you mod. it no value on a sale buy another one to mess with. had a mk1 old D reg cooper S years ago ,wet subs etc.It was well rot by the time it was finished with whot we could find most bits full race we only got 750 for it in 1984,customer wanted the log book and blown original engine. We had a lot of fun in it and spent a load on it,it was a crew job to keep it on the road every week are show of car,55 in first gear on the original big speedo,we loved taking the pee out of others on the road.Had to fit H.Spicer joints on the drive shafts to ,straight cut primes and box, plus a lot more .kept the single tank and a fuel can in the boot, whot fun

keep it standard mate, i brought a 73 auto, it going to be for me to keep mod etc etc. but on close inspection its a real gem. far to good to chop an mod. turned out its more solid than the 91 cooper i just sold (must be 70s metal lol). its nearly back together now looking standard. as been said before theres not many around now. ive just brought myself a clubman aswell and im not sure what to do with that either standard is cool.

problem with unmodded is thats pretty much all thats out there, if you modify it tastefully it becomes more unique so basically what i say is modify it the way you want but dont make it a mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
