just wondering how the 'ranking' (for want of a better word work) system works. What I mean is the description everybody has like 'Just on tickover' or 'Up into forth'. Does it relate to the number of dots underneath, and how is it decided?

It's how many posts you've made on the forum. The more posts, the more dots and the "higher" your comment is in reference to the world of mechanics.

In the past, there was another thing below your username saying how many posts you've made but the Admin team thought that some immature people thought they were better than other people because they'd made more posts, so they took it away. I think that's the reason why, anyway.
