As per the title, I was given a freebie Kenwood KRC-357L headunit.
It's old, but it was free. :dontgetit:

There are some self explanatory wires (front-left, rear-right etc).
And there are three wires that are unlabelled.

Red -- guessing +ve 12volt feed unswitched.
Black -- guessing earth
Yellow -- very much guessing +ve 12volt ignition switched?

Does this sound sensible?

There are no inline fuses, but I think I'll add some.
I got it at 8pm tonight, so have had no chance to play.

Thanks!

yep u correct
u can change the yellow and red round if it does not keep the memory
there should be a fuse in the back near the wire plug thats all u need

Thanks! Good stuff.
I hadn't spotted that fuse... so straight to the battery then.
Awesome stuff - will be fitted in a jiffy.

red should be perm live, yellow should be 12v ignition live, black is earth.

when connected up, turn you ignition on, store a radio station and then turn it off and then on again. if when turning it back on, it fails to store the radio station in memory, turn it off and swap the red and yellow around.

kenwood normally have a fuse in the back of the head unit, but depending on what circuit you fit it on, an extra fuse may be a good idea to be safe.

I know it's the opposite from the logical way round but Red is Switched Live, Yellow is Constant Live and Black is Earth.

i tend to connect red & yellow to permanent live, just so i can listen to the HU with the engine switched off (ideal when waiting for the other half shopping :dontgetit: )

Seems sensible but i'd be forgetting to turn it off. I just wired mine to first ignition stage and I can do the same thing :dontgetit:
