When I've fitted up Headlight Warning Buzzers, rather than wire them back to the Door Switch, I've connected them up, via a Diode, to the White Ignition Wire, so the buzzer sounds with the Headlights on and the Ignition off, but the door switch is an interesting option, not one I'd considered.

not much point on a moke i guess

Why not just do an auto shut off for the head/side marker lights? Here's a viddy showing how to make it:

I don't think anyone has mentioned the Minispares offering, which includes Dash illumination. I have fitted 4, with no problem.

Adding late to this topic, I have added a Rover YWC104500 multi-function unit (R25/45) to my MPI which are available for ~£10-15.  Picking up ground, constant power and switched/acc power from the radio's feeds, 'lights-on' from the clock illumination feed and door open from the LH door switch line (the MPIs have a single line for both doors).

It works well: tone sounds when lights on, ignition off and a door open. The unit is a bit tricky to mount as does not have mounting lugs but managed to strap it down below the glove box.

Edit - just to add worth getting a unit which has been cut out with the connectors as these are difficult to source (though I understand RS stock them).

Attached File  MFU-23VT_pinout.pdf   196.52K   13 downloads

For reference, here is the pin-out for the Lucas 23VT/52010268D - Rover /YWC104500 as used in the Rover 200/400/24/45 & MG ZR/ZS/MGF. The connector references are for a Rover 45.

There are few unknown inputs/outputs - if anyone has any more information on these? Dieter Koennecke's MGF site suggests one may be a Daylight Running Light output  MGF MFU Multi Function Unit (mgfcar.de) - but not identified which.

For lights-on warning the power feeds are on C0016, pins 1,2 & 3; the 'side-light' illumination feed to C0062-18; and door switch  C0062-20.
