Convoys shouldn't be dangerous, just because you're in convoy doesn't mean you have the right to break any rules on the road...
Lesson is, don't speed and you won't get fined for speeding, simple as...
Consider yourself lucky, in countries like Germany, it's illegal even to convoy!

Good I'm pleased he got done. 25 MPH over the speed limit. However I can see why this has happened, and the best thing to do is slow down and/or if safe to pull over and wait. But like it says your not responsible for other people control of a vehicle.

your leading a convoy at 70mph on the motorway and someone drops behind and then speeds to catch up they gets done , do you think its fair you get done for leading the convoy ?
and dont tell me they wont do it as its money and thats all they care about
sure some one will challege this in the house of lords as preitty sure they will have a hard job making you responcalbe for some one elses actions unless you have a gun to their head
how can you be respncible for what someone else does if my mates race of i dont chase them on my bike thats for sure

The report is slightly wrong there as i belive the section of road he was on is actually a 70mph road and is dual carrageway. i might be wrong though." Ken Clark, 49, reached 85mph on his Yamaha R1 while leading a group of three riders on the 60mph "

They're quite right to do it, and I have top respect for whoever decided this law...

sorry but thats not always as easy as it sounds, prime example is as the stig said, a convoy on the motorway or overtaking a slow moving vehicle in the country, if some number of cars pass the vehicle but theres a car obstucting your course, the others in the convoy wont neccesarily know, as such may carry on at the speed limit, the trailer may well just think, "oh ill just go upto 70 for this short stretch of road till i meet back up" you may well turn around say shouldnt speed no matter what and im going to use that age old excuse, i bet everyone had sped and will probably continue to do so, just taking chances and best judgment as to your surroundings, I woudl apply the same to the situation of catching up on a convoy, you may well speed but if it was really twisty trying to speed would be madness.
In my oppinion speedings far safer than risking a dangerious overtake just so you dont speed later on

this is all true i try my hardest not to speed but if you lead the convoy and go 5mph over which is very easy to do with out noticing or don't slow down in time for a change in speed limit and some one at the rear speeds to catch up you can be done for it and you have remember people who have just passed there test can lose there licience for this its not totally fair is it. I know i had no controll over what other people in my mini club where doing so left when i realised they were acting like idiots on public roads. They're quite right to do it, and I have top respect for whoever decided this law...

doesnt this somewhat target clubs? like mini clubs, VW clubs, motorcycle clubs etc, as there is no way to prove that a citreon saxo is in the same convoy as a peugot 106 or vauxhall corsa?? just a hunch! i think its a load of rubbish and needs to be more thoughtout!
I think what might happen there is the person pulled over for speeding at the back of the convoy would automaticaly say that he was trying to catch up with his/her friend so thay they didn't get lost.... thus implicating the others in the 'convoy'.
