I need to replace the outer sills and parts of the inner sill and floor near the inner sill and also a bit of the door step.

What i i am thinking is to buy non gen panels and then cut out the parts that i need for the patches.

Do you think this is alright to do or should i be replacing whole panels and be using genuine panels aswell.

Cheers

I would personally replace the whole of the outer sill rather than just cutting bits out here and there !! Remember that the sill is part of the strength !

As for the floor well just cut out the rot and replace !!

Hope this helps you out !!

Buy genuine panels where they are available( almost everything now) and where budget will alow. Qualityof non genuine is poor in relation to genuine

Foors can be patched as can the door step but concider the fact that if there is rot in the panel in one place there will be more just waiting to show, particularly the box sections of the sills

Best bet is to get the panels, get the old sills off and then asses the rust issue before patching or replacing the lot

If you are hapy with a 'it'll do atitude' then they should be ok. Expect to work the panels to get them to fit and dont expect any of the profile lines to match

Non Genuine that bad are they!!

Might just get genuine sills then as the other parts just need patching

ive used both in the past, it depends on your pocket, but gen for me everytime now, some of the others can be a really bad fit, and by the time youve messed around cutting/bending to get the right shape it can make you feel like giving up.
the last panel i got was a gen full scuttle and it fitted perfect.
hope that helps

Also once i have replaced the sils on the outside i was thinking of fitting oversills on topof thembut only once the rust has been removed.

Is this a really bad idea? I know it is bad to put them on to cover rust.

What would the reason be, it would be a rust propagator.

GUYS, You CAN get GEN panels that DON'T FIT WELL.

Non gen panels aint all that bad either, depends where you get them.

Afew people will agree, that some GEN panels arent all the best panels around and can be just as poor or worse then a non gen.

MMachine non gen panels were super on my mini.

I am going to go Non Gen Panels. For the extra twice as much, i would rather work a bit to get them to fit and treat myself to some other things.

Minisprocket: Yeah i guess so. But if it was all rust free then it could possibly stop rust?? thats the way i was thinking. Also it will add strength

Jordie and Tjenkos: Thanks that was the sort of thing i wanted to here. I dont mind a bit of work but surely outer sills wont be that hard beacuse they are straight anyway.

If it were front wings and stuff i would get geuine because of the curves etc.

I have some Inners/Outers and Step Sills, Non Genuine, in the garage to go on my mini and they look fine. These were from Morley Motor Factors.

Also to come - Scuttle Panel and Front panel non gen.

I dont think that much work will come with them being non gen. Besides, cutting the old sills out is going to be just as hard so getting the new ones in cant be that hard.
