laws on towing

if you got your licence after 01/01/97 then:

* the trailer AND payload must not weigh more than the towing vehicle

AND

* the total weight of towing vehicle, trailer and payload must not exceed 3.5 tonnes.

As per minis84 and neilg on this one. You dont need doors or even windscreen to pass an mot. You can even have no lights and just a daytime running mot if you needed.

As long as its safe to drive, mot'd, insured and taxed it can be towed behind another car.

daytime mot's are GREAT thats how i got my honda cr on the road, that was FUN

if your being towed i dont think it maters on the condition, why not ask the garage to tow you there, then you can use their trade plates

when my uncle was rebuilding his garages tow truck, they drove it through kingston town centre, surrey between workshops with no windows, no lights and a milk crate as a seat was f'ing hilarious, plus the guy was wearing goggles and a scarf, was the spitting image of biggles (was on trade plates)

i know that was a side step from the topic but just reminded me of it

If you've got enough duct tape, make your own doors!
