Painting With Spray Cans?

As for cost of spraying, well I didn't have a compressor and spray gun, so it would have been a couple of hundred notes right off before I'd even bought paint, which i'd assume with base, colour and laquer would have been similar cost.
I don't doubt spray cans is an expensive option, but if you look at my resto costs on the mini cooper register I think you'll agree I did it very cheaply. I picked up a box of 12 can of high build primer, 12 cans of white under coat (although should have used grey but white was cheap) from an ebay vendor very cheaply. Then the BRG cans at £5.99 or something each. 10 cans was enough to do the whole car minus the boot lid and drivers door which needed no work. Colour blended in fine. I flatted down the drivers door and re-laquered it, although it didn't really need it.
Biggest benefit I had from rattle cans is they are quiet.... which meant because I was spraying in late spring/early summer that I could safely paint in the garage at 2am, which I did do on a couple of nights as time was very tight. You couldn't do that with a compressor, my neighbours would have went pods. They were actually very understanding not complaining when I was grinding and welding, although I made a point of stopping by 7pm so as to not keep the neighbours kids up.

how much did it cost you start finish
Matt, you can spray at my place if you want? Get the paint from either Jawels or Brighton Paint Supplies....They're both pretty good. For everything, 2xlts poly base coat, 2xltrs primer, 5xlt lacquer kit (I need this much because I'm adding metal flake to the top 3/4 coats), 5xlts thinners and 10x sheets of 2000grade wet n dry it's costing £185.00. Not a bad deal!!!
you got room?

Yes mate. I'll chat to you on the NMOC site about it but I've got a 5,000sq ft unit mate. I've got 3 vans in here at present but they're mine so I can just park them outside whilst we're working no problem.
