I've a similar problem on my 1275. The oil light is slow to go out but doesn't come back on once it's gone. By slow I mean a few seconds. The switch is brand new and so is the oil (15w40) and the filter. The engine (the entire car actually) was standing for 7 years, but had good compression and sounds fine. Could this be caused by the pressure relief valve - sounds illogical? Ambient temperature here is around 20C.

Usually if it's 'slow' to get Oil Pressure after an overnight start, it's from a worn Oil Pump.

A very commonly missed off the list part where oil pressure is concerned is your rockers and their bushes (should they have them)
