Hi I noticed today a spare spade connector on the alternator today with nothing connected to it. there is a picture below - anyone know what it is.

I'll take a punt since no one has. Could be for a radio suppressor? Don't worry if the car works fine.

No problems with the car and no loose wires!

not a mini alternator??? could it be?

If it's not a mini alternator, then maybe it could be used as a warning that tells you when the alternator isn't charging properly?

Alternators are fairly universal components and several Lucas models have been used over the years that are also used on other vehicles, sometimes with differing mountings. It's quite possible there are unused functions & fittings that are cheaper to leave on common components.

Ok some pictures of the alternator, standard or not? would love to get to the bottom of the spare connector.
