Hey!

Hate the blue tinted rear lenses on my new Mini. Looking at putting MK2's, or standard MK3 lenses on. Need new gaskets and screws for the MK3's, as well as standard lenses, so i'm thinking, if MK2 looks cool, to buy some MK2 light units with lenses on eBay when I see some cheap, and save some money, and maybe make it look cooler if MK2's set it off well.

So, could someone photoshop standard MK3's, and also MK2's onto my Mini please? >_< Opinions on what would look best?

These are the best pictures I have of the back of my Mini for now. Shame the boot isn't shut, won't get a good idea but hey.

Easiest to work on?

If you could do it well on this one, it would give a better representation though :alien:

Also, tech related, would MK2 light clusters without reverse lights drop straight in or would body mods be required? Very quick job or not?

These are the clusters/units in there now (for answering the tech question)

Thanks in advance,

Matt

the mk2's will bolt straight on :(

you will have to change the wiring connections either on the lights or the loom but thats no hassle.

you'll also more than likely have to give the car a good polish where the mk3 lights used to sit as they're obviously slightly bigger

MK2 and 3 lights are the same.

Sorry, terminology police inspection :(

But I know what you mean....

Thanks Matt.

As I thought won't fit over MK3 units, so hopefully i'll be able to pick up a pair of units with lenses cheap if I decide to do it.

I think it would look good on mine, but if someone could Photoshop my Mini, or show me a Tahiti Blue mini with MK2 rear lights, either would be great. I'd like to see before I buy the bits.

:(

Thankyou :(

So Mk4 lights have the reverse light built in? And MK2 and 3 are the same? No differences? Sorry, total noob!

What do you guys think? MK4, or MK2/3?

Mk2/3 without question, next best thing to a Mk1 conversion.

Thinking of doing the same to mine and getting one of those slim retro stainless reverse lamps for under the bumper :withstupid:

Hmmm... I want reverse lights somewhere, what with it being parked and unparked (<<) at school where people toss about blocking each other in as they try to get out, a reverse light might be useful to prevent someone bumping into me! :withstupid:

Is it legal to have a reverse light in the rear window, or is that too high?

Apparently legal... however, glare off the window may be a problem?

It wouldn't be hard, just not keen on the look personally.

By law you don't need a reverse light. But if their is one then it must work to pass an MOT. So if you fit them Mk2 lights then don't bother fitting a reverse lamp and you will be fine.

Yeah I know, that's good. I'll either just not have one, or if I feel I ought to put one on, I'll knock up an LED one to tuck under the screen on the parcel shelf... I only want one really so others know i'm reversing. Unless I find parking hard without one... Won't know until I start driving.
